No expertise? No problem! New members join every year with varying levels of experience, and our early sessions are designed to help get everyone quickly up to speed.

Featuring exclusive tastings of hand-picked bottles, the Single Malt Society has sampled over 500 different whiskies, sourced locally, from out-of-state — and often overseas!

Membership & Meeting Information

Drummond MacDougall's Single Malt Society meets for five session themes throughout the year, on a roughly every-other-month basis.

One of the largest scotch clubs in the country, the Single Malt Society offers a fun and informal setting, never self-important or pretentious. Club membership includes five regular season tasting events, each featuring ongoing educational segments about the world of scotch.

2024 SESSION THEMES

CRASH COURSE is designed to be a concise overview of scotch whisky: what it is, how it's made, and how to appreciate it.
BATTLE OF THE AGES pits bottles of equal ages—but disparate prices—against each other, and we'll vote on the winners.
CASK FINISH will feature cask-finished whiskies matured in a variety of exotic barrels that previously held some other spirit.
MYSTERY BOTTLES will feature increasingly more revealing clues as to what we're drinking to see if we can guess what's what.
NOW THAT'S INTERESTING will showcase bottles we found for some reason to be unique, interesting, or fun—or all three!
SCOTCH ARCHAEOLOGY will be a special segment within each session, bringing back a classic bottle from past tastings.
