Famous sights.
Hidden corners.
Effortlessly enjoyed.

Experience thoughtfully-designed itineraries with expert guidance and none of the stress.

This trip was organized by Kirk (founder of the Single Malt Society) and Carol Figus, two seasoned travelers who are far from finished exploring. Over the years, they’ve come to know destinations not just through their landmarks and museums, but also through the off-the-beaten-path stops: the markets, side streets, little-known attractions, and welcoming cafés.

They created this itinerary to share the kind of journeys they value most: thoughtfully planned, expertly guided, and balanced with time to explore on your own, featuring both the iconic must-see sights and the lesser-known places that make for a more rewarding experience. Prior trips were organized to Scotland (twice) and the Republic of Ireland.

You don’t need to be a member of the Single Malt Society to enjoy this trip—many non‑members have joined our past journeys. The emphasis is on exploring Northern Ireland’s rich culture, fascinating history, and natural beauty, with a variety of fun, interesting stops along the way. Best of all, you’ll be part of a friendly group of fellow travelers who share your sense of curiosity and adventure.

TESTIMONIALS  ABOUT THE SINGLE MALT SOCIETY SCOTLAND TRIPS

Scotland generic image taller.webp

“This trip far exceeded my expectations...it was the perfect mix of sightseeing, castles, and museums. Our Tour Director was excellent, very accommodating to individual and group needs. Go Ahead did a great job in handling all the arrangements. I would highly recommend this trip.” ~ Jary K.

“Between the planning by Kirk and Carol and the execution by Go Ahead Tours, the journey was the perfect mix of castles, cathedrals, and distilleries. With 17 travelers and a full-sized coach, there was plenty of room to stretch out and mingle with the rest of the group. It was an amazing trip, and we look forward to details of the upcoming adventure.” ~ Tom W.

“The Scotland Jaunt arranged by Carol and Kirk and Go Ahead Tours was an amazing trip. It was so well organized we were able to relax and enjoy Scotland without any worries. There was ample time to go and adventure on your own. The guide and driver from Go Ahead were equally awesome. This was by far one of my most favorite vacations.”   ~ Joanie M.

“I feel people use the phrase “once-in-a-lifetime” a little too often, but the Single Malt Society’s Scotland Jaunt was really something very special. Our trip was carefully thought out and perfectly balanced. We never felt rushed, and even managed to sneak in some attractions not on the itinerary. The only downside is now I want to go back to Scotland!” ~ Brett F.

TESTIMONIALS  ABOUT THE SINGLE MALT SOCIETY IRELAND TRIP

Ireland generic image taller.webp

“This was one of the best trips I’ve ever taken, and as a solo traveler I felt particularly welcomed and included. It was just the right blend of history, culture, Viking lore, Irish story telling, Neolithic monuments, and distilleries. And just the right mixture of activity and socialization. The itinerary was creatively curated for our group and featured off-the-beaten-path excursions. The guides were well-selected, insightful, and managed all the details. We covered a lot of ground, yet the pacing was perfect. If you are uncertain about group tours, cast those doubts aside. Pack your bags and settle in — this was an effortless trip.  ~ Susan K.

“Carol sets up an excellent itinerary. As a seasoned Ireland traveler, I was impressed with the selection of unique stops and nice hotels off of the beaten path. Kirk and Carol also do a commendable job of including all tour attendees during the trip. This soft skill is tricky because we all have our own trip wants and needs. They do well at quick visits at breakfast, during tour stops, and in the evenings, to hear everyone’s thoughts and comments as the tour progresses. I highly recommend joining them on future tours.”  ~ Dave W.

“The Single Malt Society’s Emerald Isle Adventure was such a fun and well-organized trip with an amazing group of travelers! All of the activities were thoughtfully planned, showcasing the rich history of Ireland...with plenty of free time as well. Our tour guide and bus driver for the week were extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. There was so much care and effort put in by Carol and Kirk, which really showed during the trip, as we had no hiccups or delays. 10 out of 10 — I highly recommend this trip.”  ~ Mat G.

“Traveling to Ireland with the Single Malt Society was an unforgettable experience. Carol and Kirk put together an incredible itinerary full of unique moments and thoughtful touches. Every day brought something special. We appreciated the balance of planned activities and free time to explore, which made the trip feel relaxed and enriching. The camaraderie of the group, paired with our fantastic guide Sorcha, made it all the more memorable. I highly recommend joining the next one for anyone who loves history, culture, and food.” ~ Amy O.

“As an experienced Irish tour director, I’m very familiar with the usual highlights and well-trodden paths around the country — but the itinerary Carol and Kirk designed was truly special. Each stop along the way felt carefully considered and deeply interesting. It was clear that a great deal of thought, research, and passion had gone into the planning. Everything felt tailor-made and thoughtfully curated. And the group was an absolute joy to lead: curious, respectful, and genuinely engaged — they brought such a great energy to the journey and made the entire experience even more rewarding.” ~ Sorcha T.

“If you get the chance to travel with The Single Malt Society, you'll have one of the most thoughtfully planned trips of your life. This wasn't my first group travel experience, but it was certainly the most special. We ate well, rested comfortably, and discovered corners of Ireland we never would've found on our own. Thanks to Carol's planning and her talent for handling the details, we always had something to look forward to. I'm still amazed at how she manages to weave so many experiences into a single week without it ever feeling rushed. And Sorcha as our guide, wow, we got lucky. She always seemed to know exactly when we'd need a break, a little snack, a story, or even a song.” ~ Dre K.
